When people ask me why I became a writer, my answer is simple: I’ve always been interested in too many things. The best way to explore everything I loved—from pop culture to design, politics to health, beauty to artificial intelligence—was to write about it.
That’s why, for the past decade, I’ve immersed myself in a wide variety of experiences across the digital media landscape. Currently, I’m a staff reporter at Inc. magazine, where I cover the future of work, entrepreneurship, and the ins and outs of business ownership.
I got my start in media as soon as I stepped foot on campus for my freshman year at Barnard College. That year, I was a member of Seventeen magazine’s Freshman 15 panel, and for my first year of college, I regularly wrote and recorded blogs and vlogs for Seventeen.com documenting my campus experience—in addition to submitting clips for the print magazine. Throughout my time in college, I worked as an intern at Woman’s Day, Good Housekeeping, NYLON, and InStyle, where I was an ASME intern. My junior year, I started regularly freelancing for Bustle as a lifestyle writer.
When I wasn’t running around the city to thrift stores to buy costume pieces for student theater productions or heading over to a red carpet for a celebrity interview, I was the editor-in-chief of Barnard’s monthly, student-run print magazine, the Barnard Bulletin. While working on the Bulletin—a publication with a more than 100-year-old history—I designed the magazine’s website, managed its budget, and developed a new masthead structure that made room for junior students to get more involved in the publication. I’ve always strongly believed in the importance of community.
Just five days after graduating with honors (an English major and dance minor under my belt), I started my full-time media career at Sweet, the first straight-to-Snapchat Discover publication, which was co-owned by Hearst and Snapchat. From there, I went to Domino magazine, where I was the lifestyle editor and conceived of the top-performing franchise, The Wind Down (fun fact: I pitched it in my edit test for the job, and by the end of my tenure, it made it into the print magazine). I then worked on the e-commerce team at Meredith Corporation (now Dotdash Meredith), primarily writing shopping stories for Health, Shape, and People. And now, at Inc., I spend my days talking to founders about their strategies for growing their companies while creating places where people love to work.
In my free time, I love keeping up my Duolingo streak, making jewelry, and combing through the aisles at the thrift store. I’m also a big reader (you can check out my Instagram for my book reviews).
Above all, I’m a journalist by training, but a storyteller at heart. I love talking to people about what makes them tick, finding unexpected solutions for surprisingly common problems, and starting conversations that lead readers to feel inspired, intrigued, or, at least, entertained. And as a digital native who loves keeping up with all things new on social media, I know how to strategize to get those stories in front of the people with whom they’ll really resonate.
