When I worked on editions, I saw them through from pitch through publication—basically, I acted as both a project manager and a key creative stakeholder all in one. I would pitch my theme for an edition, draft my copy, and collaborate with the art team on any necessary assets: product silos, original photo and video shoots, and illustrations. It was an incredibly collaborative work environment—I often ended up directing video shoots behind the scenes, whether that meant working with models to show off DIY slimes or interviewing celebrities about their latest films. Sometimes I even ended up on camera myself! In the final stages of production, I’d work closely with both graphic designers and animators to revise and perfect each “topsnap.” Last, I A/B tested different headlines that would appear on the Snapchat Discover page, all in the attempt to draw in our reader. I conceptualized several editions that exceeded 1M in views—even one that was nominated for a Webby award.
